One held for kidnapping and molesting girl in Bidhannagar

Two youth allegedly kidnapped a 17-year-old girl from Salt Lake on Saturday morning and took her to a house where the accused allegedly molested the girl who somehow managed to free herself and fled the spot.

On the basis of the complaint Bidhannagar police have started an investigation and held one person for interrogation. Police said that the victim, a resident of Kasba area went to Karunamoyee area of Salt Lake at around 8.30 am on Saturday when the two accused dragged her inside a car. They took her to a house at the AH block in Bidhannagar. The victim told the police that the two accused had allegedly molested her inside the house. As she shouted for help at the top of her voice the accused became confused and the girl managed to flee. Some local residents also heard the girl screaming and rushed to the spot. But the girl had already fled by then. She called up her family members and narrated the whole incident. A complaint was lodged at Bidhannagar East police station by the victims’ family members. 

In the interrogation the victim told the police that one person who had been teasing the girl might have been involved in the incident. Police have recovered girl’s bag from the house where she was allegedly being taken by the accused.

The girl went to Salt Lake to attend a private tuition on Saturday morning. When she was walking along the road near Karunamoyee two youth came in a car and stopped her. Before the girl could realise anything one of the accused covered her face with a piece of cloth and dragged her inside the vehicle. The car vanished from the spot within a minute. 

The victim also told the police a youth had been teasing her for quite some time after she turned down his proposal for a relationship. The accused could have hatched the plot of kidnapping the victim. Police have started investigations and held one person in this connection so far. Searches are being made to nab the culprits.
