One dies in hospital, kin stage protest

Tension gripped the MR Bangur Hospital on Sunday following the death of a patient whose family members have alleged negligence on part of some staff members at the hospital which led to the death of the patient. The victim’s family members staged demonstration in front of main entrance of the hospital on Sunday morning. They have alleged that the patient died due to negligence of the doctors and the staff members of the hospital. A mob staged demonstration in the hospital premises following the death of the patient, Alamara Bibi (45) who was admitted to the hospital with fever and severe respiratory distress few days ago. A scuffle had broken out between the victim’s family members and police when the latter reached the spot to quell the mob. A huge contingent of police was pressed into action to bring the situation under control. Some local people had joined the family members of the victim in the agitation. They started demonstration inside the hospital premises and tried to ransack the furniture. But due to the timely intervention of the police forces the incident was averted. The mob got agitated when they saw the police personnel entering into the hospital. They also clashed with the police. Bibi’s family members alleged that the nurses in the hospital did not provide the patient with the oxygen support. They did not even care after the patient fell on the floor of the hospital as a result of which her condition deteriorated. They also alleged that nobody gave any attention to the patient after her condition deteriorated. It has also been alleged that three patients were being accommodated on one bed due to bed shortage.
