One arrested in Entally firing case

Police on arrested one Chunnilal Das from the house of a friend at central Kolkata in connection with the incident of firing at Entally.   It may be mentioned that a 28-year-old youth Avijit Mitra had received bullet injuries when members of two rival groups opened fire at each other on Thursday night. Preliminary investigation had revealed that dispute over supplying building material had led to the clash between two groups and it led to the firing. Police came to know about the involvement of Das in the incident.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the house of his friend and arrested him. He had attempted to flee finding the police.  But the officers chased and arrested him. A police officer said that some more youth are involved in the incident and they will also be arrested following interrogation of Das.

It is learnt that Das and the leader of his rival group had got engaged into an altercation that night and subsequently the clash broke out between the gangs.
