One arrested for raping minor girl in South 24 Pgns

 A minor girl was allegedly raped at Jibantala in South 24 Parganas on Wednesday night.

Police arrested the accused Nijamuddin Molla who is a local resident.A police officer said 

that the victim and one of her friends were playing in a ground near their house as their mothers were busy in their household work.

The youth was keeping a watch on the girls and approached them when they went near a pond.

He told the girls that he had cooked some food for them and asked them to come with him to his house.

He took them near his house and pushed one girl inside a bush.

He tied her hands with some pieces of clothes and assaulted her sexually.

The other girl fled the area and directly went to the victim’s mother. She told them about the incident.

The victim’s mother and some other local people went to the spot.They found the girl lying inside the bush. The accused had managed to flee the area.

They took the girl to a local hospital where she was admitted. The victim’s family members went to the accused’s house.

But his parents claimed the accused to be mentally challenged and they brushed aside all allegations brought against Nizamuddin.

Local people claimed that the youth had harassed some other girl in the locality earlier.

But no complaint was lodged after it was requested by his parents.

This time, however, the victim’s family members lodged a complaint with the police and subsequently the youth was arrested.

In another incident at North Dinajpur, a woman was raped at Raiganj. In this incident too, a complaint has been lodged against a local resident Saddam.

The accused had taken the woman to his relative’s house and raped her.

The police initiated a probe in this connection.
