Oil PSUs to contribute Rs 12 crore

Minister for petroleum and natural gas M Veerappa Moily chaired a meeting here on Tuesday of senior officers of the Ministry and CEOs of Oil Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), in which it was decided that oil sector would make a significant contribution towards the relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by recent floods in Uttrakhand.  Accordingly, it was decided that Oil PSUs together would make a contribution of Rs 12 crore towards Chief Minister Relief Fund. The break-up of contribution is as follows: GAIL (India) Ltd  (Rs.2 crore), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (Rs.2 crore), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (Rs 2 crore), Oil Industry Development Board (Rs 2 crore), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (Rs 2 crore), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (Rs1 crore) Engineers India Ltd (Rs 0.60 crore) and Oil India Ltd (Rs 0.40 crore). ONGC & OIL have already contributed their contribution towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister emphasised that Oil Sector PSUs should make their utmost efforts not only towards maintaining supplies of the fuels in these areas, but also carry out relief and rehabilitation work on top most priority.  In line with this, the PSUs would also undertake rehabilitation work in terms of adoption of villages and rebuilding the affected infrastructure in the State of Uttrakhand.  The PSUs would also carry out monument rehabilitation work in consultation with Archeological Survey of India and the government of Uttrakhand.

The meeting was attended by Vivek Rae, secretary, petroleum and natural gas, Rajiv Kumar, addl secretary (P&NG), S C Khuntia, AS&FA (P&NG), P Kalyanasundaram, joint secretary (P&NG).  Amongst the CEOs present in the meeting include R S Butola, chairman, IOC, R K Singh, CMD, BPCL, B C Tripathi, CMD, GAIL (India) Ltd, S K Srivastava, CMD, OIL, A K Purwaha, CMD, EIL, K S Jamestin, Director (HR), ONGC and P K Joshi, Director (HR), HPCL.
