Oil Minister Pradhan launches observance of first International Yoga Day at Cuttack

Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (IC) Petroleum & Natural Gas launched the observance of first International Yoga Day at Cuttack, Odisha on Sunday where more than one thousand people including officials from various walks of life participated. 

Envisioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and later overwhelmingly passed by the United <g data-gr-id="19">Nation</g> through a resolution, the first International Yoga Day evoked a phenomenal response across the world. Addressing the gathering at the Cuttack Indoor Stadium, Pradhan emphasised on the importance of yoga in our daily life. He also underscored the need for incorporating yoga as an integral part of our life in order to achieve a healthy and prosperous life as well as a strong nation. 

“Today is a proud day for all of us when more than 190 countries are observing International Yoga Day, conceptualised by our visionary Prime Minister. Yoga, an ancient knowledge of this great country and enriched through ages of experiments, has been recognised today as the best technique towards making a healthy body and mind,” he said. Pradhan also advised all the oil companies under MoPNG to encourage their employees and family members to imbibe Yoga as part of  life. A concrete roadmap needs to be drawn to <g data-gr-id="16">sensitize</g> people about how Yoga can make a difference in an individual’s life, he added. 

The State-run Public Sector Undertakings under the MoPNG had also observed International Yoga Day in their respective work centres across the country in which their employees and family members had participated in large numbers.

ONGC organises international Yoga Day at all its work Centres
ONGC organised yoga camps in <g data-gr-id="58">majority</g> of its work centres on Sunday to mark the first International Yoga Day, envisioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and later passed through a resolution by the United <g data-gr-id="57">Nation</g>. Responding to the call of the Government, ONGC employees and their family members participated in large numbers in the camps organised in various work centres. Earlier ONGC Management had advised the employees to imbibe the benefits from this ancient Indian knowledge, which has been remarkably enriched through ages of experiments to achieve a healthy body and mind. ONGC CMD, Functional Directors and other Senior Executives participated in various Yoga camps in the morning to observe the historic day. 

ONGC family had organised Yoga in various places, including <g data-gr-id="44">Dehradun ,</g> Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, <g data-gr-id="45">Ahmedabad ,</g> Agartala, Rajamundhri, Greater Noida Yoga camps to celebrate this important day.
