Oil mill owner dies trying to save youth in Bansdroni

The incident occurred at Satindrapally area of Bansdroni on Wednesday morning. Police said that the mill owner Sanjay Das found that a youth, Rahul Sahu who had come to the mill to buy some oil suddenly fell into the underground reservoir of the mustard oil. Das managed to save Rahul but failed to come out of the reservoir. The victim had fallen ill due to the pungent smell.

Local people told the police that when the mill owner saw that the youth had slipped into the reservoir he threw himself into the reservoir. The victim used to run a mill for quite sometimes at the Satindrapally area. There was an underground reservoir inside the mill. People who were at the mill heard the screaming of the boy when he fell into the mill.

 People stepped up to the reservoir but no one dared to step into the reservoir. After hearing about the incident the mill owner, Das jumped into the reservoir to save the youth. He pushed Rahul to get out of the reservoir.

 Some local people later helped him to get out with the help of a rope. But he fell ill. The local residents called up on the emergency number of Kolkata police, following which the police reached to the spot. A disaster management team had also rushed to the spot. But he was taken to the hospital where he died later.

Police are investigating how the youth who came to buy some oil fell into the underground reservoir. Rahul has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.
