NTPC’s capacity rises to 39,674 mw

The total installed capacity of NTPC has increased to 39,674 mw with the commissioning of the third 500 MW unit of at its Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar. NTPC currently has over 16,000 mw capacity under construction in different parts of the country.
Addressing the employees at a programme to celebrate the 37th Raising day of the company, Power Secretary P Uma Shankar appreciated NTPC 's performance and congratulated the staff on the achievements.
He also presented the Swaran Shakti Awards to the best performing stations of the company. NTPC Ramagundam bagged the rolling trophy as the best performing NTPC station.
NTPC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Arup Roy Choudhury and the company's directors were present on the occasion. The NTPC Board also recently approved investment for the first stage (1,600 mw) of the Lara super thermal power project in Chhattisgarh.
