NTPC installs solar thermal cooking system at Dadri power plant

The Dadri National Thermal Power Corporation is a milestone in power generation, catering to the needs of the National Capital Region (NCR) and the Northern states.

While interacting with the media persons NTPC’s Group General Manager (Dadri) Debasis Sarkar, on Wednesday, highlighted the achievements and salient features of the NTPC.

“The station has the distinction of being the country’s only three-in-one project consisting of Stage-1of 840 MW, Stage-2 of 980 MW coal-based units and 829 MW gas-based modules along with 1,500 MW as High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) convertor station,” Sarkar said. Sarkar asserted that in future, solar power tariff will be come down in. Earlier, solar power tariff was Rs 18 per unit in 2012, now it’s tariff has come down to Rs 4.63 per unit.

Sarkar said that the station also has the 5 Mega Watt (MW) solar power plant.

The Dadri power station premises has been developed in a unique manner with “solar thermal cooking system and all weather cooking solution which are capable working in all three modes such as boiling, frying and baking based cooking. It is situated at the main plant canteen of NTPC Dadri,” said Sarkar.

Sarkar said that the other features of the system are quick start up, thermal energy storage, no chemicals required as steam generation is not involved and all weather cooking solution-integrated with LPG fired Thermic Fluid Heater for non-lean solar period operation.

In the last, Sarkar also mentioned about the various Corporate Social Responsibility activities such as infrastructure development, education, health, sanitation and hygiene and rural sports in the nearby villages. He also added that all statutory rules for environment protection are being implemented.
