NTPC efforts bring fruits for Korba

The much-awaited state-of–the–art building for the first engineering college, Institute of Technology, in this tribal district of Chhattisgarh was inaugurated by the visiting chief minister of the state, Raman Singh here at Korba. NTPC which is running a 2600-MW power station from this district has been pursuing keenly with a contribution of Rs 10 crore under its CSR for this college located on a 50-acre campus. A cheque worth Rs 50 Lakh of remaining 1 crore was presented to the chief minister by S K Roy, General Manager, and K Lingaiah, AGM (HR), NTPC Korba during a function here to mark the occasion.

The station has also created a green-belt with 10,000 saplings on the college campus. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister lauded the initiatives of the company in setting up the new home for the institute which is presently offering B.Tech programmes in four disciplines, such as civil, electrical & electronics, mechanical and computer science.
