NPF dissident group urges Nagaland Guv to dismiss Zeliang govt

The dissident group of Naga People’s Front (NPF) has urged Nagaland Governor PB Acharya to dismiss the minority government under TR Zeliang and install a new government under the leadership of majority leader G Kaito Aye.

The group has also unanimously resolved to remove Dr Shurhozelie from the post of NPF president and suspend his party membership.

The dissidents unanimously elected Noke Wangnao, the senior most party leader and legislator, as the new NPF president.

The decision was taken at a special emergency general meeting of the NPF at Chumukedima in Dimapur district on Monday, said a release issued on Tuesday by the newly appointed party secretary general Abu Metha. The statement claimed the meeting was attended by 430 members, which included 23 MLAs, two MPs, eight NPF division presidents and office bearers, 39 Assembly constituency unit presidents, central office bearers and office bearers of youth and women wings.
