Now, NDMC makes toilets to make Lutyen’s Delhi open-urination free

Aiming to make Lutyen’s zone Open Urination Free, the NDMC has reported to make available a sufficient number of public conveniences at a close spacing of 50 to 200 metre to cope up with the basic needs of commuters.

The NDMC officials said that the initiative is an attempt to make the area at par with international standards for extending civic amenities to the residents and others who wish to visit Connaught Place and other areas. Usually, about 15-20 lakh people visit Connaught Place and other areas daily. One can locate the nearest toilet facilities on NDMC311 App anywhere in New Delhi area.

“The Ministry of Urban Development has already declared NDMC area 100 per cent Open Defecation Free. The Council has started painting the walls across its jurisdiction to put an end to open urination and it has already developed public as well as mobile toilets in areas where open urination is a normal affair,” said the official.

The officials said mascots who are working in shifts have been deployed at each sanitation circle to keep a watch and guards have been allotted to them. “One metropolitan magistrate and two special municipal magistrates have been earmarked for the purpose. The chamber of the metropolitan magistrate is situated at Dwarka Court while the chambers of other two special magistrates are one at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Place and another at Palika Bhawan,” added the official.
