Now, extra flights, trains to tackle Puja rush

To manage the extra rush of passengers to North Bengal during Pujas, a private airline has been announced which will operate additional flights in three days from October 1-3.

An additional flight would be operated between Delhi and Bagdogra from September 30. The announcement of new flight services would benefit the people who would like to spend precious time with their family members in famous tourist destinations.

The construction works for setting up of Instrument Landing System (ILS) are almost done. After the completion of ILS the passengers can avail flight services in the night too.

So far the flight services are available from Bagdogra only in the day time. Around 14 flights are being operated from Bagdogra in a day.

State tourism minister Goutam Deb will hold a meeting with the various airlines. The state government is trying to increase the number of flights from Bagdogra to attract more number of tourists. 

The state tourism department has already taken a number of steps to promote the tourist spots in the North Bengal. It was learnt that once the ILS is ready flight services between Bagdogra and Dhaka would be started.

During Pujas there is also an extra rush of passengers in the long distance trains as well. As a result of this, many people who want to visit to their place of interests during the festive season often get disheartened as the tickets are not available in various trains. North-East Frontier Railways have announced to run 14 pair of additional trains in various routes. A huge number of people from North Bengal visit Kolkata to soak in the spirit of puja festival. A senior official of the North East Frontier Railways said that there is a long queue in the waiting list for various trains running between Jalpaiguri and Kolkata. In order to meet the extra rush of passengers various new trains would be run during the puja days. Some trains would run up to Alipurduar. North Bengal State Transport Corporation has also decided to run buses in various routes during pujas.
