Now, EDMC residents can get birth/ death certificates online

The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) on Tuesday started an online facility to ensure hassle-free services to people, applying for birth and death certificates. 

“The civic body is facing many challenges right from its inception. We have limited resources but we are trying to provide the best services to citizens,” said EDMC Commissioner Mohanjeet Singh.

East Delhi MP Maheish Girri, who was also present, hailed the EDMC for starting the facility. Terming it a positive step toward e-governance and Digital India, he said the move would help check corruption and ensure transparency in the system. He added that over 10,000 people apply for birth/ death certificates every month in East Delhi. 

Standing Committee Chairman Jitender Choudhary called it a milestone in civic services. He said over 40 lakh citizens lived in East Delhi and corporation was bound to provide them with better services. The corporation is also planning to start online services for health trade, general trade and factory licence.
