Not doing Mubaraka due to professional reasons: Sonakshi

Sonakshi Sinha has cited professional reasons for declining Mubaraka, amid speculation the decision was based on her apparent sour relationship with actor Arjun Kapoor. Arjun and his actor uncle Anil Kapoor are on board for the movie, which will be directed by Anees Bazmee.

Sonakshi and Arjun reportedly began dating each other in 2014 while shooting for Tevar but parted ways last year after the film released. There have been reports that the 29-year-old actor decided to not do the film due to her equation with Arjun, while there have also been rumours that she was unhappy with her role.

“I don’t think it’s right to speak about the film that I was offered and I am not doing. It was a matter between me and the producer. It was a professional decision to not to do the film and nothing else,” Sonakshi said. “People have a habit of cooking up stuff (stories). But I don’t think I need to clarify things to anyone.”

Sonakshi says while her father and actor Shatrughan Sinha understands that controversies are a part and parcel of showbiz, her mother Poonam Sinha gets worried about the controversies involving her.

Recently, there have been reports that Sonakshi is planning to settle down with her friend and rumoured boyfriend Bunty Sajdeh. “My dad doesn’t get bothered. He doesn’t get into it at all because he has been through that in fact even more than me,” Sonakshi said.

She added: “But my mom gets worried so I have to pacify her and calm her down. She understands at the end of the day. But wonders ‘why are they writing about my daughter’ so she gets a little protective.  The actor, who is excited about her next film Akira, shares that she shrugs off baseless reports, but reacts when they drag her family into it.

She said: “I take it depending on if its only affecting me then I can ignore it, but if you are going to drag my family and friends into it that is not cool.”

The Lootera star went on to share that is when she feels a “need to take a stand because people need to realise along with the person you are writing about there is lot of people around them who have nothing to do with and that’s not right”.  Mubaraka will for the first time bring together Anil, 59, and Arjun, 31, on screen.
