Northern Railway steps up cleanliness drive through ‘Shramdaan’

With the Swacch Bharat Mission completing its one year on Friday, Northern Railway once again undertook Shramdaan by re-launching this responsibility through a slew of concomitant activities. 

Member Staff, Railway Board, Pradeep Kumar and General Manager, Northern Railway A K <g data-gr-id="21">Puthia</g> led the Shramdaan initiative from the front at a simple ceremony held at New Delhi Railway station on Friday. Shramdaan was observed at all the 1,008 stations of Northern Railway with senior officers participating at major stations. 

Shramdaan was observed by Railway employees along with their families at all the five divisions over the zone. The third round of the Mosquito Terminator Special Train was also pressed into service on the occasion.

Drawing up elaborate action plans during the course of the entire year, Indian Railways had earmarked special fortnights for Intensive Campaigns. Phase-Wise mission programmes are  also slated for  launching viz Sardar Patel United Clean India Drive from October 11 to October 31, 2015, focusing on Railway stations and trains which unite the country. 

The period from December 16 to December 31 would cover Railway colonies while February 
15, 2016, to February 18, 2016, would focus on Railway Hospitals and Health Units. 

The period from February 28, 2016, to March 15, 2016, would cover Cleanliness drives at Offices, Service Buildings and other work places including workshops and production units.
