Northern Railway celebrates 58th railway week

To commemorate the running of the first train in the country between Boribander and Thane, Indian Railways celebrate the Railway Week every year. Northern Railway celebrated its 58thth Railway Week from 10th April to 16th April 2013. As part of the celebrations, Northern Railway has introduced GM’s excellence shield first time in 58th Railway Week function. Northern Railway organized its annual function at Baroda House, New Delhi today.

Speaking on the occasion, the General Manager lauded the various achievements of the zone in core functional areas. With total earning of approximately Rs. 14,300 crore this year, an increase of 23%  in the earnings from the last year   and Northern Railway became lead Railway in the Revenue earning for Indian Railway, despite of heavy fog for nearly two months in almost the entire North Zone during winter.

The year 2012-13 has ended with the successful completion of the construction of Banihal-Qazigund section of Udhampur-Baramullah-Srinagar Rail link Project. This is a most singular achievement not only for the Railway but also for the entire country.
