North MCD holds session with traders to simplify conversion

In order to streamline and simplify the issue of conversion charges especially in the commercial areas built before 1962, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor, Ravinder Gupta, on Tuesday held an open session with a number of traders’ association of North Delhi. The Mayor interacted with the traders and sought their suggestions with regard to documentation proof of commercial activities on <g data-gr-id="20">ground</g> floor and above in commercial areas built before 1962 for the purpose of paying conversion charges.

The Mayor announced that the commercial units running at the ground floors may be given benefit of exemption if the boundaries in terms of area as well as constructions are fixed by MCDs in terms of area as well as constructions, commercial units of such bazaars/markets on the basis of old records.

Town Planning and House Tax departments will explore the possibility of fixing the boundaries.
However, the commercial units running in the upper floors would have to pay conversion and parking charges. For this purpose, an ongoing special opportunity scheme for paying conversion charges has been extended up to October 15 with the hope that traders will come forward and deposit their due conversion and parking charges within this scheme.
