North Delhi to deploy cameras and guards for girls’ safety

North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has decided to install CCTV and deploy security guards in all its primary schools for security of girls students.

‘We have recommended budgetary provision for installation of CCTV in all municipal corporation schools from next academic session to make the schools free from sexual harrassment and fix responsibility in case of any unwarranted incident,’ said Rekha Gupta, chairperson of Education Committee in NDMC.

‘Besides these, each school will be provided with security guards and level of boundary walls would be raised or barbed wire or fencing be done for more security,’ added Gupta. She further informed that the preference would be given to girl schools and five CCTV would be installed in each primary school.

In the budget proposal finalised by the education committee on Wednesday it was recommended to allocate additional budgets for CCTV, arrangement of security guards, extension of fencing walls, development of play ground, provide mobile chip to all principal for more connectivity in all municipal schools, increase in budgetary amount of uniform to all its students. The said provisions have been made in order to provide better security system, holistic development of the students and better communication with the parents as well as principals as well .

She further added that games and sports play an important role in the overall development of the child’s mental and physical health.
 
‘We have decided to develop and maintain playgrounds in all municipal schools which will provide indoor and outdoor facilities both It has also been decided that budget for uniforms of students studying in Nursery classes in municipal schools from Rs 300 to Rs 800 and Rs 500 to Rs 1,500 for students studying in classes I to V for two sets of uniform,’ added Gupta.
