North civic body to provide tax relief to commercial establishments

The north civic body has decided to provide relief to commercial establishments in its area, which have been facing the burden of hiked property tax rates.

Chairman of the standing committee in North DMC, Ram Kishan Singhal, on Wednesday said that the corporation has neither imposed any new tax nor hiked any existing tax rate. 'The hike was due to an executive error and we are committed to providing relief to citizens. This will either be rolled back or adjusted in next year's tax,' said Singhal.

The property tax for commercial establishments of over 100 sqm area had been hiked from 12 to 20 per cent for the current financial year. But the ruling BJP has been blaming the bureaucrats for the hike.
