Noida-Ghaziabad Metro on track

In a board meeting on Friday, New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida) approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Metro route to connect Noida to Indirapuram area in Ghaziabad. According to officers, the Rs 1807 crore project would be completed in four years.

‘Work will start on the project after getting clearance from the state government,’ said Sanjeev Saran, CEO of Noida. The 6.675-km fully -elevated Metro route will connect Noida City Centre Metro to Sector 62 at National Highway- 24 adjoining Indirapuram in Ghaziabad. According to the DPR of the project, a total of six Metro stations will be constructed along the route. The eight-coach train with an average speed of 32-km/ph will ferry 2,352 passengers at a time.

In the same meeting, Noida and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) sanctioned the 30-km Metro route between Noida and Greater Noida. ‘We will now write to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to prepare the DPR of the project,’ added Saran.

The new route will have 22 stations from Sector 32 in Noida to Bodaki in Greater Noida. According to the officers,  the project will be completely elevated on Noida -Greater Noida Expressway and would cost around Rs 3,629 crore. The new route will go through Knowledge Park in Greater Noida, considered as the hub of technical and management education in NCR, Pari Chowk, Sector 51, Sector 83, Sector 49, Sector 50, Sector 1432, Sector 147, Alpha and Delta before  terminating at Bodaki.
