NOIDA begins road constructions to improve connectivity in new sectors

The authority said that the projects of road construction in the new sectors, located basically in the outskirts of the city, have been pending for a long time and the move will help in ensuring last mile connectivity. The authority, during its board meeting last week, also announced the names of five major roads saying that Noida is a planned city and it is important that people are able to identify roads easily.

According to the authority officials, the project is on cards and the budget has been sanctioned which will be borne by the authority itself. “With the coming up of the residential sectors, the area is growing rapidly. In some sectors, developers have handed over flats to owners while is some areas the process is underway. Once developers start giving possession in full swing, thousands of people will start living here. The need of the hour is to ensure proper infrastructure in these new sectors so that residents do not face difficulty while reaching from one place to another,” said an official, adding that majority of the apartments in the newly-developed Sectors 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 112, 113,114, 114, 116,117,118,119 and 150 have been handed over to owners following which they have started shifting in the flats while more are likely to join soon.

The officials informed that construction of roads have almost been done in a few sectors while tenders have been issued to speed-up the project in some other sectors too. “The authority, in order to avoid connectivity problem in new areas, had planned to construct dozens of roads. The ‘master plan’ has also <g data-gr-id="45">provision</g> of a series of roads in every nook and corner especially in the sectors along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Keeping in mind the plan, the authority has put the projects on a priority basis. In many sectors, re-carpeting of roads is required <g data-gr-id="43">while</g> in others, new roads need to be built. Roads, which require re-carpeting only, are likely to be operational before <g data-gr-id="42">end</g> of October,” said another official.

Additionally, the authority has also announced names of the key roads in the city. The road from Sector 32-36, crossing the Captain Shashikant Sharma Marg, which connects Sectors 8 and 11 will be called Stadium Marg, and the road connecting Sectors 12 and 22 has been named City Center Marg. The road between Sectors 140 and 141 and 104 will be known as Janpath.

The road from Sector 52-71 going towards Greater Noida via Sector 123 will be known as Vikas Marg, while the road going from Sector 52-71, that joins with the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway via the Dadri-Surajpur-<g data-gr-id="53">Chalera</g> (DSC) road has been named Link Road.
