No-trust motion by LF, Cong to be discussed today

The Congress and Left Front-sponsored no-confidence motion against the Trinamool Congress government will be discussed in the West Bengal Assembly on Friday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee said on Thursday.

“It was decided to discuss the motion in the House tomorrow (Friday). The Chief Minister will be present,” he said after the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the House.

Though the Opposition wanted two hours for discussion, 90 minutes have been allotted for it, he said. Later, Leader of Opposition Abdul Mannan of Congress and Sujan Chakraborty of CPI(M) said it is their moral victory, adding that it is matter of surprise that only 90 minutes have been allotted for discussion.

Out of 294 seats in the Assembly, Left Front and Congress have 70 seats while BJP has three seats. The no-confidence motion will not be able to create any dent in the state government.
