‘No reconciliation with Jaswant, son’

There is no mood of reconciliation within the BJP leadership to mend fences with rebel leader Jaswant Singh. This was amply reflected in the presence of Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje at a public rally in Barmer after party candidate Col Sonaram Choudhary filed nomination. In New Delhi, senior party leader Arun Jaitley said the onus was on the senior leader ‘who talked of personal honour but cared little for party loyalty.’

The party, however, doesn’t seem to be in mood to act against Jaswant Singh’s son Manvendra Singh, party MLA from Shiv constituency under Barmer Lok Sabha seat. ‘He is caught between his father and the party,’ said a senior leader who had long telephonic discussions with Manvendra Singh to persuade his father not to go to a point of no return.
