No govt at Centre without BJP or Congress backing, says Advani

While Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has been trying to reach out to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by praising its veteran leader LK Advani, the BJP patriarch on Wednesday virtually ruled out Yadav’s dream of a third front government. ‘There will be no government at the Centre without BJP or Congress... it may not be a two-party system but it has certainly been converted by the BJP’s efforts into a bipolar polity,’ said Advani while interacting with media persons at Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh. Anticipating early Lok Sabha elections, the BJP leader was of the view that elections could be held this year itself.

‘I hope Lok Sabha polls will be held in 2013 after the assembly polls in six states... whenever the polls take place, it is certain that Congress will taste defeat,’ said Advani. Assembly elections in Karnataka, Delhi, Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jharkhand are due this year where there will be a direct contest between the BJP and the Congress. ‘BJP is expecting good results in these six states after which Lok Sabha polls will be held,’ said Advani.
