No garbage should lie unattended, says SDMC Commissioner

The SDMC Commissioner P K Goel has issued strict instructions to the officers and employees of the department concerned to ensure cleanliness of all 577 dhalaos situated its jurisdiction. He has asked the department to get cleaned all dhaloas twice a day in order to improve the look and image of the city.

While referring to the order of the L-G, the Commissioner stressed upon the need of lifting collected garbage from the dhalaos for taking it to the land filling sites immediately to avoid spreading of out garbage outside dhalaos and around that area. The accumulated garbage in dhalaos and spread outside dhalaos can become a cause of diseases.

The Commissioner has instructed all the four Zones to constitute separate team for separate dhalaos immediately. He further instructed to deploy at least one employee at each dhalao during day time. In addition to this, a supervisor will also remain present at each dhalao. The teams will get regular cleaning in their respective dhalaos. The special teams at Zonal levels comprising of the senior officers including Deputy Commissioners and Addl Deputy Commissioners will inspect the dhalaos, without any intimation and submit daily reports to the Commissioner.

The special teams will also monitor the auto-tippers and trucks meant for taking garbage from dhaloas to the landfill site. There are 122 dhaloas in West Zone, 41 in Najafgarh Zone, 181 in Central Zone and 235 dhaloas in South Zone. The SDMC has deployed 164 compactors/tipper trucks/dumper placers and 256 auto-tippers for collection of garbage. Dr Goel has stated that dhalaos under the SDMC must look cleaner than the dhalaos in other Corporations.

Goel also stated that the negligence in work will not be tolerated and immediate action will be taken against the erring employees. No excuse will be entertained for taking any liberal action. He has also asked the department to initiate prosecution against the residents for accumulation of garbage and malba outside their dwelling units. Similarly, the owners and construction agencies will have to face legal action for accumulation of malba outside their plots. He stated that the SDMC will launch a forceful campaign exhorting people to render their constructive contribution in making the cleanliness drive a grand success.
