No dissent in BJP over ‘tainted’ Sanjay Pathak entry

Close on the heels of B Sriramulu’s induction into the BJP despite an objection from senior party leader Sushma Swaraj for his alleged involvement in a mining scam, another rebel Congress leader Sanjay Pathak from Madhya Pradesh has joined the party. A Lokayukta probe is pending him in a similar scam.

Surprisingly, this time party leaders preferred to remain silent. Pathak, a mining baron, is the richest MLA from Vijayraghogarh assembly seat with declared assets of Rs 121 crore and currently his firms are being probed by the Lokayukta in an alleged mining scam.

No leader at the party headquarters is willing to comment on the issue. Speaking to Millennium Post, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said: ‘I am not aware about this individual case. Let me inquire then only I can comment.’

Earlier, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has raised his objection over the induction of JD (U) leader Sabir Ali for his alleged connection with terrorist Yasin Bhatkal. Ali was removed a day after from the party. Similarly, Sree Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik was removed from the party soon after his induction after protests within the party.

Unfortunately, Sushma was not lucky enough to get her party’s support and despite her stiff opposition Sriramulu has managed to join the party and was rewarded with a ticket to contest from Bellary in Karnataka. The series of political developments in recent times clearly show that the BJP, which claims to be a party with zero tolerance for corruption, is open to inducting ‘rotten apples’ from other parties for political gain.
