‘No cases of cos subverting govt economic policy’
The government has not come across any corporate espionage cases where companies were found to have influenced its policy, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. “...No such instance has come to the notice,” Corporate Affairs Minister Arun Jaitley said in written reply to the Rajya Sabha. He was asked whether many cases of corporate espionage have come to light recently wherein firms have been found involved in influencing the government policy.Delhi Police and CBI are separately probing cases of corporate espionage, wherein “sensitive” government documents were allegedly leaked from some ministries and could have been sold among others to some corporate houses.
These cases relate to alleged organised corporate espionage rackets, where custodians of classified foreign investment related to government policy documents were being sold to corporates. In February, crime branch of Delhi police had arrested several people including consultants, senior executives from top energy firms, junior oil ministry officials and middlemen.
