NLC celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

‘By implementing a lot of community development programmes, NLC becomes the forerunner on following Gandhiji’s principles’, said R Kandasamy, director (Mines, Planning & Projects), NLC Ltd., at the 143rd birth anniversary celebrations of Gandhiji.

Mahatma Gandhiji’s 143rd birth anniversary was celebrated at NLC on Tuesday with usual pomp and fervor. The daylong celebrations started with the garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s bust in front of the Township Administration Office, Block-10, by R Kandasamy, director (Mines, Planning & Projects).The members of Neyveli Ladies Club sang ‘Raghu Pathi Raghava Rajaram’, soon after the garlanding.

The celebrations at the Lignite Hall, Block-11 started with the singing of Gandhiji’s favorite song ‘Vaishnava Janatho’ by the members of Ladies Club.      

Earlier, at the Lignite Hall, scriptures from the Bhagavad Gita, Holy Bible, Holy Quran, Thirukkural and Naladiyar were read by representatives from NLC schools, Indian Christian Cultural Association, Neyveli Muslim Jamaath, Neyveli United Tamil Association. Then, Members of Ladies Club, Indian Christian Cultural Association, Muslim Jamaath, Telugu Samithi, Kerala Kala Samithi, Kannada Sangha, Bharathiya Kala Samithi, Neyveli Chapter of Forum of Women in Public Sector and Ramakrishna Seva Sangam of Neyveli sang bhajans, devotional and patriotic songs to pay tribute to Gandhiji. In his address R Kandasamy said that Gandhiji  always propagated the policy of taking care of the society.

SCOPE unveils Mahatma’s statue

In a befitting tribute to Mahatma  Gandhi on his 143rd birthday, Arup  Roy Choudhury, chairman, SCOPE and CMD, NTPC in the presence of U D Choubey, director general, SCOPE  unveiled a statue of the Father of the Nation at the SCOPE Convention Centre, SCOPE Complex, NewDelhi.  

The function was attended by  CEOs, Directors and senior executives of PSEs and senior officials of SCOPE.  SCOPE Complex houses the corporate and regional offices of a large number of CPSEs.
