Nitish Kumar attacks Guv for acting at Centre’s behest

“The Governor is following the ‘script’ written at the ‘highest level’ in the national capital so that ‘license for horse-trading’ given by the Centre could be executed,” Kumar said while accusing BJP of pulling out all stops to ‘throttle’ the JD(U)’s government formation move. He told a television channel that MLAs were being offered Rs 1 crore and ministerial berths to back Manjhi.

The HC’s judgement to uphold Kumar’s election as leader of JD(U) legislative party came on a review petition filed by JDU against the court’s order that had stayed Nitish’s election. Blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating political turmoil in Bihar, Kumar alleged that the saffron party has told Manjhi to lure about 35 MLAs if he needed their support and is helping him in doing so. The JD(U) had demanded that the floor test be held at 48 hours notice.

“This has been decided at the highest level. It started after Manjhi met the Prime Minister. The Governor was earlier convinced that an early floor test should be held. But things changed after Manjhi’s meeting with the Prime Minister. The script was written here,” Kumar told reporters.

“When we were sure that Manjhi was acting on behest of people from outside the party, mainly BJP; We decided to act. How can one continue in government with the support of just 12 MLAs? When we met the governor, we informed him that we need to be clear on who will prepare the Governor’s speech.
