NIOS all set to celebrate silver jubilee year

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), set up on 23 November 1989 as an autonomous institution by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has planned to give a huge thrust to its programmes and activities during its silver jubilee year.

The silver jubilee celebrations will be ushered in on 23 November at the Mavalankar auditorium, Vithalbhai Patel House, Rafi Marg, New Delhi. The first session of the programme will be presided over by Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State, Human Resource Development with a silver jubilee special lecture by M B Menon, former Chairman, NIOS at 2 pm. In the second session to be presided by M M Pallam Raju, Minister, Human Resource Development, the foundation day lecture will be delivered by A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India.

The NIOS will also confer awards in the categories, Best Co-ordinator, Best Study Centres and Best Regional Centre. Also, the successful learners of NIOS will be felicitated for their achievements. The entire day’s programme will be streamed on the NIOS web site.
