Nigerian held for gang-raping 30-yr-old

A 30-year-old woman from Jharkhand has alleged that she was gang-raped by two of her Nigerian friends in South Delhi on September 22. Delhi Police managed to nab one of the accused while the other accused is still absconding.

According to police, the incident took place in a rented accommodation in Fatehpur Beri area.

“The victim and the accused are friends and they allegedly ran a gang who cheat people by making anonymous calls alleging that they have won a lottery. Also, they used to cheat people who used to buy accounts and procure ATM cards,” a police official requesting anonymity disclosed.

The victim told the police that she met the accused in January and she was staying with one of the accused in a live-in relationship. “On September 22, he along with his friend raped her but she did not make a police complaint. On September 25, she reached <g data-gr-id="28">Burari</g> police station where a zero FIR was registered and the case was transferred to Fatehpur Beri police station,” the official added.

“After the case came to Fatehpur Beri police station, a team was formed and one of the accused was arrested. He has been identified as Emmanuel (30).

“A manhunt is on to nab the other accused,” another police official said.

“The victim is constantly changing her statement that is why her version needs to be <g data-gr-id="20">cross examined</g>,” he said.

A case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and further investigation is underway.
