NHRC seeks report from Commissioner over student’s torture

The National Human Rights Commission, on <g data-gr-id="10">Tuesday</g> sought a report from Police <g data-gr-id="9">Commisioner</g> of Faridabad over alleged torture of a young student by Crime Investigation Agency of Haryana.
According to media reports, the child was picked up last month by a CIA, DLF team on suspicion of selling a stolen mobile phone and subjected to <g data-gr-id="11">third degree</g> torture. Following the incident, the student had consumed a poisonous substance and was admitted to hospital in a critical condition.
The Commission has said media reports raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim and hence issued a notice to the Police Commissioner to explain the truth behind the incidence.
