NHPC pays dividend of Rs 743 cr for 2011-12

NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydro power company and a ‘Mini Ratna’ Category-I enterprise of the government of India has paid a dividend of Rs 743.64 crore to the government for the financial year 2011-12.
At the company’s 36th annual general meeting held on 17 September, the dividend at the rate of Rs. 0.70 per cent per equity share (i.e. 7 per cent) was approved by NHPC shareholders.
NHPC has more than eleven lakh shareholders and the total dividend payout for the year 2011-12 is Rs 861.06 crore, which is the highest ever dividend paid by NHPC, as against Rs. 738.05 Crore for the year 2010-11.
