NFL launches work on country's first PSU bentonite sulphur plant

Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar, laid the foundation stone of National Fertilizers Limited’s Bentonite Sulphur plant in Panipat. Chief Minister Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar, was the chief guest on this occasion. 

This will be the first Bentonite Sulphur plant in the country in Public Sector. The plant with a 25,000 mt per annum production capacity will commence production within a period of 14 months.  Speaking on the occasion  NFL CMD Manoj Mishra, said that the plant has been envisaged to cater to the demand of Bentonite Sulphur in this region. He further said that this plant is a significant step towards 'Make in India' mission as it will help in reducing dependence on import of fertilisers.  Bentonite Sulphur is used in wide variety of crops including paddy, wheat, sugarcane, pulses and oil seeds. 

It is pertinent to mention here that NFL is playing a prominent role in catering to the fertiliser needs of the country and thereby contributing to Indian agriculture significantly. The dignitaries who graced the occasion included, Haryana Transport Minister K L Panwar, MP Karnal Ashwani Chopra, Secretary (Fertilisers) Vijay Shankar Pandey.
