Newspapers should become voice of weaker sections: Guv

Lamenting the disparity between the urban and backward regions of the state, Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Tuesday  called upon the newspapers to highlight the problems of the rural poor and other weaker sections of the society.

“Newspapers have to become a voice of the rural poor, the SC backward classes, the handicapped, farmers and women...all these categories, in order to remain relevant to the needs of the people. There is still a vast disparity between the levels of development in cities and in the backward regions of the state,” he said.
