New land in Burdwan acquired for Misti Hub

District officials in Burdwan on Tuesday acquired a piece of land where the proposed Misti Hub will come up. According to the senior officials of Burdwan, the construction work will begin soon. Senior administrative officials and the Zilla Parishad officials on Tuesday visited the site.

The state government had earlier directed the district authority to search for a new plot for the proposed Misti Hub. The decision to shift the hub from its proposed location was taken following reports received by the state secretariat stating that farmers have shown resentment against bringing it up on the 10.5 acre plot, which was acquired by the erstwhile Left Front government in 2007.

It may also be mentioned that Banerjee had earlier announced a Langcha hub near Shaktigarh in Burdwan. But post administrative review meeting, CM decided that it will be a misti hub.

The decision was taken after considering the business potential of the locally made sweets and it was decided to sell the sweets in all the outlets of Biswa Bangla. She had also announced that the sweets from this hub will be sent abroad. “Mamata Banerjee government thinks about the common men,” farmers said.
