New health policy: All stakeholders to be involved, assures Nadda

Government will involve all stakeholders, including doctors, before bringing in the new health policy, for which exhaustive consultations are underway, Health Minister JP Nadda said on Saturday.

Addressing doctors at a function at the BJP headquarters here, Nadda said government is committed to bringing early a new health policy while fulfilling the promise made in the party’s manifesto.

Nadda, who is also BJP general secretary, said after working out on various areas of the new policy, the same would be put in public domain for eliciting the views of public and their inclusion before finalising the policy.

With the consultation process having started, Nadda sought support of doctors in formulating such a policy that helps bring relief to people on their medical needs.

“As per the manifesto, we will soon bring a new health policy, work for which has started. The process of discussion has started and a Steering Committee has also been formed for putting in place its areas. They will later be put in public domain for seeking the views of public,” he said at a function organised by Bihar Doctors Forum.

The consultation process for the new policy, he said, will be “complete and exhaustive” and all stakeholders will be involved, including doctors through formal and informal discussions.
“No policy can be formulated without stakeholders,” he said.
