New EPFO offices in North-East; upgrade for existing centers

Country’s provident fund organization has stepped up efforts to reach out to the people of North-Eastern states, and it has opened new offices in the region. It has also upgraded number of existing offices in the remote region of the country, to handle grievance handling and compliance monitoring among others, officials said on Monday. The move will benefit people primarily from Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland among others.

“Taking the first step, that would take the EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization) to doorsteps of its members in the North-Eastern states, it has upgraded the district offices/services 
centers in Gangtok, Imphal, Aizwal, Itanagar and Dimapur to special state offices,” an official said. 

The special state office shall be headed by an Assistant Commissioner level officer and would have an Enforcement Officer and other supporting staff, another official said. `“The special state offices would focus on special works like Compliance Monitoring, Grievance handling, Claims scanning and Forwarding among others. This shall be of great assistance and convenience to the EPF members belonging to the states of Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland for availing EPF – related services,” he said.
