New beginnings: DMRC takes over airport express line

At the midnight hour of Sunday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) took over the operations of the 22.7 km long Airport Express Link bringing to an end the uncertainty prevailing over the state-of-art service rendered irregular by concessionaire Reliance Infra.

Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited (DAMEPL), the concessionaire, on 27 June had indicated its inability to run the service beyond Sunday night.

‘An operations and maintenance team of 100 officials, which was created after the DMRC board decided to run the service, took over operations on Sunday midnight. A seven-member strong core committee of senior officials is supervising the operations, ‘ DMRC sources said.
Given the DMRC’s track record of providing the best possible services to commuters, the users of the express line are generally happy with the fact that the Reliance Infra is out.

‘With Delhi Metro at the helm, we are sure of getting our money’s worth,’ said Zia-us-Saddam, a commuter. The DMRC is also working on a feedback mechanism to make the services as effective as it was meant to be.

Accordingly, two ‘feedback cum suggestion counters’ will be opened at the Shivaji Stadium and Dwarka Sector 21 stations from 7.30 am onwards on Monday. Commuters will also be able to post their feedback and suggestions on Delhi Metro’s website – www.delhi
metrorail.com.
