Neighbour rapes minor in Keshavpuram area

In another incident of sexual assault on a minor, a 15-year-old girl was raped in the Keshavpuram area on Friday. The accused was arrested on Sunday.
The incident took place on Friday when the victim was alone at home. The accused, who has been identified as a neighbour, came over. Finding the victim alone at home, the accused raped her and managed to escape. He threatened the girl against disclosing the matter to anyone.
When her family returned, they found the girl crying.
When her family questioned her why she was crying, she narrated the incident to her mother, after which the family lodged a complaint at the police station.
After the complaint was received, several raids were carried out to nab the accused, based on the descriptions provided by the victim. The accused was also identified as Umashankar, a neighbour of the victim’s. The accused was finally arrested on Sunday. A case under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal code and several other sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) has been registered at Keshavpuram police station in north-west Delhi.
