Nehra gets successfully operated

Veteran India speedster Ashish Nehra successfully underwent a right-knee surgery in a London hospital to treat his high-grade tendon injury sustained while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Indian Premier League earlier this month.

The 37-year-old was India’s best bowler during the ICC World T20 where he got 5 wickets in 5 games at a miserly economy rate of 5.94 runs per over. He was named in ‘Team of the Tournament’. Nehra sustained the injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on May 15, as he aborted his run-up and was seen in considerable pain.

Nehra also had a decent IPL for Sunrisers with 9 wickets from 8 games at an economy rate of less than 8 runs per over. It is expected that Nehra, if he decides to continue playing, will take around six months for complete recovery as well as rehabilitation programme.
