NDMC mayor does a quality check

North Delhi mayor Azad Singh along with senior officers of the corporation paid a surprise visits to the kitchens of NGOs supplying mid-day meals to schools, in the wee hours on Wednesday.
The mayor inspected kitchens of three NGOs based in Budhpur, Alipur and Ranhaula which supply mid-day meal to schools run by the north DMC.
'During the inspection, the samples of mid-day meal being prepared were collected and sent to Shriram Institute for Industrial Research for testing their quality,' said a spokesperson of North DMC.
The mayor also expressed grief over the death of school children after consuming mid-day meal in Bihar and issued strict directions in all schools run by the North DMC to not serve mid-day meal to children before testing the quality by a five-member committee at the school level which includes principal, in-charge of mid day meal, distributor, a parent and a neighbourhood member.
The mayor was also accompanied by additional commissioner M S A Khan. According to sources the South and East DMCs have also issued directions and surprise inspections would be carried out on Wednesday.
