Ndmc deputes mascots in 14 circles to check open defecation, urination

In order to maintain and upkeep the New Delhi area neat and clean, the NDMC has deputed live mascots in all the 14 sanitation circles to check and curb open defecation and urination. The decision has been taken by the Council taking into consideration the forthcoming Swachta Sarvekshan 2017. 

“Attention is being given to the venerable spots like JJ Clusters and along railway tracks under the jurisdiction of NDMC area to curb the practice of open defecation and urination. As many as 28 mascots, two in each sanitation circle, have been deployed for the purpose and they will watch and guard the area allotted to them for performing their duties in two shifts. 

In case any person found defecating or urinating, a whistle will be blown by the mascot and he will be caught on the spot and an appropriate action will be taken against him,” said an NDMC official.
