NCS to link job seekers, employers in big way: Bandaru Dattatreya

The Centre plans to connect job seekers with their prospective employers in a big way through the National Career Service, a national job portal, linked to the employment exchanges, Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya said on Friday. Under the NCS scheme, those registered with employment exchanges will get SMS alerts on jobs available in the market without them having to make rounds of exchanges, he said. Modelled on the lines of a UK government initiative, the NCS, which functions under Directorate General of Employment and Training of Ministry of Labour and Employment, would connect millions of jobseekers to employers, both in the government and the private sector.

"If a worker is registered with employment exchange, your cell phone number would be there. What we do is, after registration, you will get information on where jobs are available, electrician, welder, fitter, all these jobs. You are asked to attend the interviews. We are modernising employment exchanges through the National Career Service," Dattatreya said.
