NCC camp gives cadets a feel of army training

Lt Gen S K Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, ADC, vice chief of the army staff inaugurated the National Cadet Corps, Thal Sainik Camp 2012 at the DGNCC Camp in Delhi Cantt. On arrival the vice chief was welcomed by Lt Gen P S Bhalla, AVSM, director general, NCC.

Cadets numbering 1360, both boys and girls drawn from 17 NCC directorates covering all states and union territories of the country are participating in the camp. Cadets attending the camp will be competing in a number of activities, like shooting, obstacle training, map reading and other institutional training competitions spread over twelve days.

The aim of the Thal Sainik Camp is to give an exposure to salient aspects of army wing training and generate competitive spirit by conducting competitions contributing towards Inter Directorate Republic Day Banner in addition to fostering sense of discipline, leadership and national integration amongst participating cadets. In his opening address the vice chief of the army staff lauded the efforts of the NCC, the largest uniformed youth organisation in grooming the youth of the country into motivated citizens and leaders as also the NCC’s contribution towards ‘Nation Building’.
