NBCC CMD Vishnu P Das to step down

After achieving major milestones for public sector Mini Ratna Company, National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC),  V P Das will be demitting office of Chairman and Managing Director come 31 March, 2013.

In his two-and-a-half year’s stint as CMD, NBCC, he turned the company around completely and 'it will only go further up' says the outgoing CMD, with a content smile. Das joined National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd after 29 years of experience in the Power sector and brought along with him special skills in project management. He started his career in NBCC as Director (Projects) and then moved on to the position of Chairman and Managing Director, NBCC.

After taking over the reigns of NBCC as its CMD, Das, helped raise the company’s turnover from Rs 13,171 crore to Rs 36,000 crore and the profit went up from Rs 28 crore to Rs 190 crore. After being listed, the share price too has been stable and several projects are in the pipeline. 'We have focused government work for top line and real estate work for bottom line' he said.

During his tenure, National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd completed some milestone projects such as the iconic CBI headquarters, ESIC hospitals and real estate projects in Jasola, Okhla and Gurgaon. NBCC is now completely focusing on project management and ninety percent of NBCC’s work is outsourced.

With a workforce of 2300 out of which 800 are engineers, NBCC is focusing on further improving quality of their projects and excellent project management. All set to leave for his next innings, he extends his courtesy to his predecessor  Arup Roy Choudhary (current CMD, NTPC) for the great work that he did.
