Titled, NM Lecture Series – it plans to bring together experts and practitioners from the world of art and culture for Indian audiences, this month’s lecture will be delivered by Douglas Druick. He is a curatorial veteran, president and Eloise W Martin Director of the Art Institute of Chicago.

‘The NM Lecture series will provide an exclusive opportunity for audiences to interact with the experts,’ said National Museum director Dr Venu V. Further he said, ‘It will enrich the curious and facilitate a dialogue with the critical thinker.’

Dr Douglas, apart from being the president of the Art Institute of Chicago, has led key curatorial departments at the museum’s Department of Medieval to Modern European Painting and Sculpture as well as the Department of Prints and Drawings. He joined the Art Institute in 1984.

He will also talk about the manner in which the Chicago Art institute has developed over the years and offered new programmes for the public.

The February lecture will be delivered by Dr. Hans Martin Hinz, president of International Council of Museums, an acclaimed international body for museum professionals on the theme of Global Trends in Museums.
