National knowledge network to enable collaborative research among institutes

Emphasising on close cooperation in the area of cyber security between India and Estonia and Latvia, the European countries, Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “The National Knowledge Network (NKN) has been at the forefront of connecting knowledge institutions in India to enable collaborative research among institutes of similar nature.”

“Collaboration with counterparts in Europe via GÉANT and within Asia via TEIN has opened new doors for NKN connected institutions across India,” the minister said, adding, “I believe that the high-speed data exchange among the participating institutions will be of immense mutual benefit for researchers from both India and Europe. This will also spread the mission of digital India far and wide.”

Notably, the minister during his ongoing visit to Estonia and Latvia, visited Tallinn University of Technology where he inaugurated NKN-GÉANT peering.  The NKN is the largest research and education network in the world and connects over 1,600 institutes across India.
