National Capital gets rain on Tuesday, more likely today

The city experienced light rain on Tuesday and the maximum temperature settled at 35.5 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season’s average, the Met office said. Light rain is also likely on Wednesday.

“It will be generally cloudy sky on Wednesday. Light rain or drizzle may occur at many places in the region,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.  “The city received over all only 0.2 mm rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Wednesday. However, 20 mm rains were received in Noida,” the official said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 35 and 28 degrees Celsius respectively on Wednesday, the weather office said.

Tuesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season’s average, while the relative humidity oscillated between 69 and 85 per cent, the weather office said.

Monday’s maximum and minimum temperatures settled at 36.7 and 28.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season’s average, respectively.

Though the showers made the weather pleasant, it caused water logging resulting in traffic jams at some stretches in the city.

According to the Delhi traffic control room, vehicular movement was affected due to water-logging near Zakhira flyover, near Indralok railway bridge, Anand Parbat, Rao Tula Ram, Azad Market, near Qutab Road chowk and in Sangam Vihar.
